Clearing App Cache and App Data:

NOTE: assuming that one of your applications is not running as it should, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the app's cache and / or data. WARNING! Clearing an app's data will result in the deletion of all the personal data stored within the application, such as profiles, user information, credit card information, settings, high scores etc. Clearing the cache however, will not affect your personal data, but it will remove temporary files from the memory. To clear an app's cache and / or data:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while viewing the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings" > "More"
  3. Go to "Application manager"
  4. Access the "All" tab and select the desired application
  5. To clear the cache, tap "Clear cache" and press "OK"
  6. Tap "Clear data" if clearing the cache hasn't helped > review the pop-up information and tap "OK" to confirm

Clearing the Phone's Cache Partition:

In case your phone is not running in the right parameters, it freezes / crashes often etc. then you might consider the possibility to factory reset your smartphone. Before you do so, however, you can try to fix these issues by wiping the phone's cache partition. By doing so, personal files stored on the internal memory will not be deleted. To perform a cache wipe:

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold "Volume Up", "Home" and "Power" at the same time
  3. Once the phone vibrates, release the "Power" key but keep pressing "Home" and "Volume Up"
  4. Once the "Android System Recovery" screen appears, release all hardware buttons
  5. Press the "Volume Down" key to navigate to and highlight "wipe cache partition"
  6. With the aforementioned option highlighted, press the "Power" button to select it
  7. Your phone will wipe the cache partition and automatically reboot in normal mode

Safe Mode Management

NOTE: Safe Mode is a great tool that allows you to reboot your smartphone with all third party applications disabled. This can come in handy if you've installed an application that causes issues on your phone, and prevents you from uninstalling it while the app is active.

Rebooting in Safe Mode:

  1. Turn off the smartphone
  2. Press and hold the "Power" button
  3. When the "Samsung Galaxy" splash screen pops-up, release the "Power" key and immediately press and hold the "Volume Down" button instead
  4. After the smartphone finishes rebooting in safe mode, you can release the "Volume Down" button. NOTE: you'll know that your smartphone runs in safe mode, when the "Safe Mode" message will appear in the bottom-left corner of the screen

Uninstalling a Third Party App and Exiting Safe Mode:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "Settings" and access the "More" tab
  3. Tap "Application manager"
  4. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen and select the desired app
  5. Tap "Uninstall" and confirm with "OK"
  6. To exit safe mode, simply press and hold the "Power" button and tap "Restart"
