Audio File Transfer

Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect your Beam 2 to your computer using the USB cable
  2. On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down
  3. Tap "Connected as a media device", and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
  4. From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
  5. Open a new Windows Explorer window, and locate the desired audio files stored on the PC's hard drive
  6. Copy the sound files that you wish to use as ringtones / notifications, and paste them on the phone's storage
  7. After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC

Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:

  1. Open the Mac's Internet browser and navigate to Kies
  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
  3. Use the USB cable to establish a connection between your Beam 2 and Mac
  4. On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down
  5. Tap "Connected as a media device" > mark the "Media device" check box
  6. Launch Kies on the Mac
  7. From Kies, click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory" or "External memory"
  8. Navigate to where you wish to copy the audio files
  9. On the computer, locate the audio files that you wish to use as ringtones and / or notifications
  10. Drag the files from the computer into Kies
  11. Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone

Adding Audio Files to the Notification and Ringtone List

Adding Music to the Ringtone List:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "My Device" tab
  4. Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
  5. Tap "Add"
  6. Select either "Choose music track" or "Sound picker"
  7. Tap "Just once" or "Always"
  8. Select the desired audio files and tap "OK"

Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:

  1. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
  2. Tap "My files" > "All files"
  3. Locate the audio files that you wish to add to the list
  4. Tap and hold the desired file and select "Copy"
  5. Tap "Device storage"
  6. Open the "Notifications" folder and tap "Paste here"

Setting Custom Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Access the "My device" tab
  4. Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
  5. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"

Changing the Ringtone for One Specific Contact:

NOTE: you cannot set custom ringtones to contacts that are stored on the SIM card

  1. Launch the "Contacts" application
  2. Select the desired contact and tap the "Edit" icon (depicting a pencil)
  3. Tap "Ringtone"
  4. Select the ringtone that you wish to use
  5. Tap "OK" > "Save"

Changing the Notification Sound:

  1. From any home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap the "My device" tab
  4. Go to "Sound" > "Notifications"
  5. Select the desired notification sound
  6. Tap "OK" to assign it
