Audio File Transfer
Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:
- Connect your Beam 2 to your computer using the USB cable
- On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device", and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Open a new Windows Explorer window, and locate the desired audio files stored on the PC's hard drive
- Copy the sound files that you wish to use as ringtones / notifications, and paste them on the phone's storage
- After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC
Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:
- Open the Mac's Internet browser and navigate to Kies
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kies on the Mac
- Use the USB cable to establish a connection between your Beam 2 and Mac
- On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap "Connected as a media device" > mark the "Media device" check box
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- From Kies, click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory" or "External memory"
- Navigate to where you wish to copy the audio files
- On the computer, locate the audio files that you wish to use as ringtones and / or notifications
- Drag the files from the computer into Kies
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone
Adding Audio Files to the Notification and Ringtone List
Adding Music to the Ringtone List:
- Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Access the "My Device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
- Tap "Add"
- Select either "Choose music track" or "Sound picker"
- Tap "Just once" or "Always"
- Select the desired audio files and tap "OK"
Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:
- From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Tap "My files" > "All files"
- Locate the audio files that you wish to add to the list
- Tap and hold the desired file and select "Copy"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Open the "Notifications" folder and tap "Paste here"
Setting Custom Ringtones and Notification Sounds
Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:
- Press the "Menu" key while on the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Access the "My device" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Ringtones"
- Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"
Changing the Ringtone for One Specific Contact:
NOTE: you cannot set custom ringtones to contacts that are stored on the SIM card
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Select the desired contact and tap the "Edit" icon (depicting a pencil)
- Tap "Ringtone"
- Select the ringtone that you wish to use
- Tap "OK" > "Save"
Changing the Notification Sound:
- From any home screen, press the "Menu" key
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap the "My device" tab
- Go to "Sound" > "Notifications"
- Select the desired notification sound
- Tap "OK" to assign it
