Using a Google Account to Transfer Contacts:

You can easily transfer contacts from the Galaxy Express to the Galaxy S5 by syncing the contacts stored on the Express with your Google account. Once that step is done, you can then re-sync the contacts from the account with the Samsung Galaxy S5, as explained below

  1. On the Samsung Galaxy Express, sign in with your Google account
  2. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen
  3. Tap "Settings" and go to "My accounts"
  4. Tap "Google" and touch your "email address" or "user name"
  5. Tap "Sync now", or clear and mark the "Sync Contacts" check box
  6. Switch over to the Galaxy S5 and register the same Google account
  7. Open the apps drawer and tap "Settings"
  8. Tap "Accounts" under "User and Backup"
  9. Press "Menu" and tap "Sync all"

Exporting > Importing Contacts via the "Contacts" App:

Using the "Contacts" application you can export the contacts stored on the Galaxy Express as a vCard file. The VCF file can then be transferred to the Galaxy S5 either via email or by using a computer, and can be easily imported to the phonebook using the "Import" function

  1. Launch the "Contacts" app on the Galaxy Express
  2. Access the "Contacts" tab
  3. Press "Menu" > "Contacts to display"
  4. Select "All contacts"
  5. Tap "Menu" again and select "Import / Export"
  6. Tap "Export to SD card". Make sure you remember the file's name for future use
  7. Tap "OK" and launch the email client
  8. Compose a new email and attach the VCF file to it
  9. Send the email to your own Gmail address
  10. On the Galaxy S5, open the email and download the vCard file attached to it
  11. Open the "Contacts" app and press "Menu" > "Import / Export"
  12. Tap "Import from SD card" or "Import from storage"
  13. If necessary, select an account and then load the vCard file

NOTE: after you have created the VCF file on the Galaxy Express, you can transfer it to the Galaxy S5 by connecting both smartphones to a computer via USB, and manually copy > pasting the file from the Express' storage to the Galaxy S5's "sdcard" directory. Once the transfer is done, import the file's contents to the S5's phonebook through the "Contacts" app, as explained above

Transferring Contacts via Send Anywhere:

Send Anywhere is a third party application with the help of which users can transfer contacts from one phone to another without needing a computer. The app can share content between devices through a P2P connection.

  1. Visit the Google Play Store and install "Send Anywhere" on both devices
  2. Once the app has been installed, open it on both smartphones
  3. On the Galaxy Express, tap "Send" > "Contacts"
  4. Mark the desired contacts and tap "Send"
  5. Select the desired transfer method. By tapping "Receive" on the Galaxy S5, you can enter the randomly generated transfer code from the Express in order to commence the transfer. Otherwise, you can tap "Generate QR Code" on the Express, and scan the code with the SGS5's camera to begin the process
