How-to: Samsung Galaxy Ace 4: Manage Contacts and Caller Groups

Contact Management

Adding a New Contact:

1. While on the home screen, tap "Contacts"
2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
3. Tap the "+" icon
4. Select the location where you wish to save the contact, between "Device", "SIM card", "Google" or "Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync"
5. Enter the contact's name in the appropriate field
6. Add an email address and any other optional details
7. Enter the contact's phone number in the proper field
8. When ready, tap "Save"

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SIM Card:

1. Launch the "Contacts" application
2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
3. Press "Menu" and tap "Settings"
4. Tap "Contacts"
5. Touch "Import / Export" and follow one of the following sets of steps:
   
   • To export contacts to the SIM card:
     
     1. Tap "Export to SIM card"
     2. Select the contacts that you want to export. Optionally, tap "Select all"
     3. Tap "Done" and touch "OK" to confirm
   • To import contacts from the SIM card:
     
     1. Tap "import from SIM card"
     2. Choose an account to import the contacts
     3. Mark the check boxes associated with the desired contacts, or tap "Select all"
     4. Tap "Done"

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SD Card:

1. From the home screen, tap "Contacts"
2. Go to the "Contacts" tab
3. Press the "Menu" key and then tap "Settings"
4. Tap "Contacts" and then tap "Import / Export"
5. Perform one of the following steps:
   
   • To import the contacts from the SD Card:
     
     1. Tap "Import from SD card"
     2. Choose where you wish to import the contacts
     3. Tap to "Import vCard file", "Import multiple vCard files" or "Import all vCard files"
     4. Tap "OK" and select the desired vCard file, if necessary
     5. Tap "OK"
   • To export contacts to the SD card:
     
     1. Tap "Export to SD Card"
     2. Press "OK" to confirm the export

Adding a Contact to Speed Dial:

1. Tap the "Phone" icon while on the home screen
2. Tap the "Keypad" tab
3. Press "Menu" and tap "Speed dial"
4. Tap the number that you wish to use
5. Select the contact that you wish to assign to the selected dial number

Deleting a Contact:

1. Launch the "Contacts" app
2. Tap the "Contacts" tab
3. Press "Menu" and tap "Delete"
4. Mark the check box next to the contact that you wish to delete
5. Tap "Done" > "OK"

Managing Groups

Creating a Caller Group:

1. Tap the "Contacts" shortcut from the home screen
2. Touch the "Groups" icon, located below "Favorites"
3. Tap "Create" and enter a name for the group
4. Tap "Add member" and mark the check boxes next to the desired contacts
5. Tap "Done" > "Save"

Adding Contacts to an Existing Caller Group:

1. Tap the "Contacts" icon while on the home screen
2. Go to the "Groups" tab
3. Select the desired group
4. Tap "+" and mark the check boxes associated with the contacts that you wish to add
5. Tap "Done" to confirm
