Checking the Amount of SD Card Space:

  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
  2. Go to "Settings" and swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "Storage"
  4. You can view the "Available space" value under "SD card"

Formatting the SD Card:

WARNING! Formatting the SD card will delete all data stored on it. If necessary, create backups before proceeding

  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
  2. Access "Settings" and swipe to "System"
  3. Tap "Storage" and swipe to "SD Card"
  4. Tap "Format SD card" twice
  5. Tap "Delete all" to confirm

Opening or Deleting Files Located on the SD Card

Using a Windows Computer:

  1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime to your computer via USB
  2. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "USB connected" > "Connect USB storage"
  3. From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open folder to view files"
  4. Open the "Card" directory representing the SD card storage
  5. Open or delete the desired files
  6. When you're done, tap "Disconnect storage from PC"
  7. Safely disconnect your smartphone from the USB connector

Using a Mac Computer:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps in case Samsung Kies is already installed on your Mac

  1. Launch the Internet browser on your Mac
  2. Visit Kies and click "Download for Mac OS"
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your computer
  4. Connect the Grand Prime to your Mac using the USB cable
  5. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
  6. Mark the "Media device" check box
  7. Launch Kies and click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory"
  8. Double-click a file to open it
  9. To delete an item, mark the check box associated with it and click the "Trash can" icon, followed by "OK"
  10. Once the process is done, eject your smartphone and safely disconnect it from your computer

Using the Smartphone:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch the "My Files" app
  3. Swipe to "Local storage" and tap "SD card"
  4. Tap a file / folder to open it
  5. To delete a file / folder, tap "SD memory card" > "Menu" > "Select"
  6. Then, mark the check boxes next to the items you wish to remove and tap "Done"
  7. Press "OK" to confirm

File Transfer

Transferring Files from the SD Card to the Internal Memory:

  1. Tap "Apps" from the home screen
  2. Launch "My Files"
  3. Swipe to "Local storage" and tap "SD Card"
  4. Tap "SD memory card" and go to where the desired files and folders are located
  5. Mark the check boxes associated with the items you wish to transfer
  6. Press "Menu" and tap "Move" or "Copy"
  7. Select "Drive storage" and go to the location where you want to transfer the files
  8. Tap "Move here" or "Paste here"


Transferring Files from the Internal Memory to the SD Card:

  1. Open the "My Files" application
  2. Swipe to "Local storage" and then tap "Device storage"
  3. Locate the files you wish to transfer
  4. Mark the files you want to transfer and press "Menu"
  5. Tap "Move" or "Copy", and select "SD memory card"
  6. Navigate to where you wish to transfer the files and tap "Paste here" or "Move here"

Changing the Default Memory Storage for Apps

NOTE: The majority of pre-loaded applications use the phone's internal memory to save data, by default. You can, however, set these applications so that they use the external storage instead.

Change the "Camera" Storage Settings:

  1. Launch the "Camera" app
  2. From the viewfinder, tap the "Settings" icon
  3. Tap "Storage" and select "Memory card"

Change the "Voice Recorder" Storage Settings:

  1. Launch the "Voice recorder" application
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Storage"
  3. Select "Memory card"

Change the "Internet" Storage Settings:

  1. Open the "Internet" app and press "Menu"
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Advanced" > "Content settings"
  4. Touch "Default storage" and then select "SD Card"

Change the Storage Settings for DLNA (Nearby Devices):

  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
  2. Swipe to "Connect and Share"
  3. Tap "Nearby devices" and set the switch to "ON"
  4. Tap "Download to" and select "SD card"
