Hello everyone and in advance thanks for any advice given.

I'm ignorant of cellphone hardware and need your counsel. I am a Peace Corps volunteer in Mozambique. I live with a very bad and fluctuating signal. I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo and have a harder time picking up the signal than my roommate who has a Samsung Galaxy Grand which seems to be able to pick the signal up quite steadily. I was curious as to what hardware contributes to the success of my roommate's phone and which phone you would recommend for this situation that is also cheap, Samsung or otherwise. I was thinking of purchasing a Galaxy III. The smaller screen of the pocket has been driving me crazy and the phone freezes as the signal fluctuates, leaving me very frustrated.

In short I am looking for something that is economical, full sized and with enough processing speed to not drive crazy. Also it needs the international signal whatever.

    Thanks very much!

The antenna design in phones can contribute to how they pick up signals. It can also depend on the carrier and what cell phone towers are near by (although, this isn't as bad with international carriers vs US since most international towers are GSM only).

As a previous owner of a Galaxy SIII, I would definitely recommend it. It's a quality phone with a large screen and a fast quad core processor (for the international versions). You'd want to get the GT-I9300 (quad core, 1gb of ram) or the GT-I9305 (same processor, but 2gb of ram & 4g lte data capability - not sure if you'd have 4g available though). $100USD would be a good price for the 16gb version
