How-to: Transfer Contacts from an iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy V Plus

Using iTunes:

NOTE: You can use a computer with Internet access and iTunes installed in order to sync the contacts of your iPhone with your Google account. Then you can add the account on the Galaxy V Plus and allow it to sync contacts with your phone.

1. Open iTunes on the computer
2. Establish a USB connection between the computer and your iPhone
3. Once connected click the iPhone to reveal the summary page
4. Access the “Info” tab and enable “Sync Contacts With”
5. From the drop-down menu select “Google Contacts”
6. Register your Google account in iTunes, or if you’ve already done this you can click “Configure” and select an existing account
7. To start the sync click “Apply”
8. Once done, register the Google account on the Galaxy V Plus and allow it to sync contacts

Using iCloud:

NOTE: If you have previously backed up your iPhone using iCloud then your contacts should also be backed up on your iCloud account. By accessing it using a computer with Internet access, you can export these contacts for Android use.

1. Open the Internet browser on your computer
2. Visit https://www.icloud.com/ and sign in with your iCloud account
3. Click “Contacts” and select the ones you want to share
4. Tap “Settings” > “Export vCard”
5. After the vCard file is downloaded on your computer, import it to “Google Contacts” or alternatively:
6. Connect the Galaxy V Plus to the computer via USB and transfer the file to the phone’s storage. Next, pen “Contacts” and press “Menu” > “Import / Export” > “Import from SD card”

Using “My Contacts Backup”:

NOTE: The two transfer methods above require access to a computer with an active Internet connection, but the following two guides rely on third party apps instead. My Contacts Backup is a third party app for iOS that can be used to back up and transfer contacts via email:

1. Install “My Contacts Backup” on the iPhone via the App Store
2. Open the app and tap “Backup”
3. Once the backup file is created tap “Email”
4. Compose a new mail and make sure the VCF file is attached to it
5. Send the email to your own Gmail address
6. Switch to the Galaxy V Plus and open the email
7. Download the attached file and import it to the phonebook using the “Contacts” application

Via “Send Anywhere”:

NOTE: Last but not least you can use "Send Anywhere” – a third party app for both iOS and Android that allows users to transfer contacts and other file types through a P2P connection without the need of a computer.

1. Go to the App Store / Google Play Store and install “Send Anywhere” on your iPhone and Galaxy V Plus respectively
2. Open the application on both smartphones
3. On the iPhone tap “Send” > “Contacts”
4. Select the contacts you want to share and tap “Send”
5. Finally, choose a method of transfer. You can tap “Receive” on the Galaxy device to manually enter the randomly generated transfer code from the iPhone, or you can tap “Generate QR Code” on the iPhone and scan it with the Galaxy V Plus’ camera
