Turn On Power Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Tap Power under System
- Tap Power saving mode and enable the feature
- Customize how Power saving mode works by enabling or disabling the available options
Turn On Ultra Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Power saving
- Tap Ultra Power saving mode and enable the feature
- You can further customize how the mode works by tapping + to add applications that will run in Ultra Power saving mode
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Access the phones Settings menu
- Tap Display > Brightness
- If necessary, disable Automatic brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen and tap OK
- Tap Screen timeout in the Display menu
- Select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phones connectivity features when they are not in use. To do this:
- Go to Settings
- Under Network Connections, tap Tethering & Mobile Hotspot
- Tap the Hotspot switch to OFF
- Go back to the home screen and drag the Notification bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location tiles to disable these features
Use 2G instead of 4G:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Tap More networks under Network Connections
- Tap Mobile Networks
- Select Network mode and tap GSM only
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Some of your third party applications can have an effect on your phones battery performance even when you dont use them assuming that the apps perform regular processes in the background. As such, by disabling / removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Application manager under Apps
- Go to Downloaded
- Select an app and tap Disable
- To remove the app completely, tap Uninstall > OK
Disable Background Data:
- Access Settings
- Tap Data usage
- Tap Menu
- Enable Restrict background data
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your phone / accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Scroll to User and Backup and tap Accounts
- Go to the Accounts tab and select an account
- Adjust the available sync settings for the specific account
- For additional sync options, tap your user name or email address at the top of the screen
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Software updates can improve battery life, so you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Scroll to System and tap About device
- Tap Software updates and if available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update
