Enable Power Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Under System, tap Power
- Tap Power saving mode and turn the feature on
- You can further customize how Power Saving mode works by enabling or disabling the available power saving options
Enable Ultra Power Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Power saving under System
- Tap Ultra Power saving mode and turn the feature On
- To further customize how the mode works, you can tap + to add more applications which will run in Ultra Power Saving mode
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling the phones connectivity features when not in use (such as Hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi), you can improve battery life in the long run. To do so:
- First, open the Settings menu
- Tap Tethering & Mobile Hotspot under Connections
- Tap the Hotspot switch to disable the feature
- Return to the home screen and drag the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi, Location, and Bluetooth tiles to disable these features
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Under Network Connections, tap More networks
- Tap Mobile Networks > Network mode
- Tap to select GSM only
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Go to the Settings menu
- Tap Display > Brightness
- Turn off Automatic brightness if necessary
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity, and tap OK
- From the Display menu, tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout duration, such as 15 seconds
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts / phone to sync less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts under User and Backup
- Access the Accounts tab and select an account
- Adjust the available sync settings for the account type
- For more sync options, you can tap the user name or email address at the top
NOTE: Syncing options will differ depending on the account type.
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications can affect your phones battery performance even when they are not in use this is because some apps perform regular background processes. As such, by removing or disabling unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the Settings menu
- Under Apps, tap Application manager
- Access Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Disable to turn off the app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Turn Off Background Data:
- Open the Settings menu
- Tap Data usage
- Press Menu
- Tap to enable Restrict background data
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvement, thus its recommended to keep your phone OS up to date. To check for updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen and go to Settings
- Tap About device under System
- Tap Software updates and if available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install updates
