Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Under System, tap Battery
- Tap Power saving mode to enable the feature
- To adjust the battery percentage at which the battery saving mode turns on automatically, tap Start power saving
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Display under Device
- If necessary, disable Automatic brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease screen luminosity
- Return to the Display menu
- Tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout value, such as 15 seconds
Disable Connectivity When Unused, and Switch to 2G:
NOTE: By turning off Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. Furthermore, if you are running low on battery and you dont have access to a wall socket, you can prolong battery life by switching to 2G network instead.
- Open the phones Settings menu
- Scroll to Connections
- Select the connectivity option you want to disable
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot
- Tap the switch to OFF
- To switch to 2G, first go to Settings
- Tap More connection settings under Connections
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Minimize the Use of Third Party Apps:
NOTE: Certain third party applications on your device can negatively affect battery performance even when not in use due to the fact that certain third party apps perform regular background processes. Thus, by turning off or removing unused third party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Access Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and access the Downloaded tab
- Select the desired app and tap Disable / Force stop
- Or tap Uninstall to remove the app completely from the phone
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By changing the sync settings so your phone syncs less data, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Tap Accounts under Personal
- Select an account type and your account
- Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Disable Background Data:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Connections and tap Data usage
- Tap More > Restrict background data
- Tap OK
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: New software versions can include battery life improvements, so by keeping your OS up to date, you can improve battery life. To check for updates:
- Open the Settings menu
- Scroll down to System and tap About device
- Verify if new software versions are available, and follow the on-screen steps if necessary
