NOTE: You can visit this thread to learn how you can back up data on the Samsung Galaxy J7.
Restore Contacts from an Account:
- Sign in with the Google account used for the initial backup
- Go to the Settings menu
- Scroll to User and Backup and tap Accounts
- Select Google
- Tap your user name or email address at the top
- Make sure Contacts is selected
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Restore Contacts from SD / Storage:
- If the vCard backup file is located on the SD card, make sure the card is installed on the phone first
- Next, open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Select Import and choose SD card or Storage, depending on the location of the vCard file
- Choose to import / restore a single vCard or multiple vCards
- Select the desired vCard, and choose to restore its contents on Device storage or sync them with your Google account
Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open My Files
- Under Local storage, tap SD card
- Tap More > Edit
- Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap More > Move > Device storage
- Navigate to the desired target folder or tap Create Folder
- Tap Move here
From a Windows PC:
- Connect the Galaxy J7 to your PC via USB
- Swipe the Status bar down and make sure Media device (MTP) is selected
- Launch the File Explorer on the PC
- Locate the media files backed up on the HDD
- Copy the files and paste them on the phone storage, in the Media directory or the folder they originate from
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
From a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Mac and Galaxy J7
- From the notification area, make sure the phone is connected as a Media device (MTP)
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Click the Back up / restore tab inside Kies
- Click the Restore tab
- Tick the boxes associated with Music, Photo, and other types of media files. Alternatively, tap Select all
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen steps to complete
- Once the process is done, eject the phone storage by dragging > dropping the virtual drive from the desktop and into the Trash can
- You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
