Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: If one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage, you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data.

WARNING! By clearing an app’s data you will lose all personal information stored within the app, including profiles, login and credit card information, saved games, high scores etc. However you can avoid losing data by clearing only the app’s cache.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Applications” and tap “Application manager”
  4. Access the “All” or “Downloaded” tab
  5. Select the desired app
  6. Tap “Clear cache”
  7. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone doesn’t work as intended or runs out of storage inexplicably, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the app’s cache partition. This can have a similar effect as a factory reset without losing any of your personal data. To wipe the cache partition:

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Next, press and hold “Home”, “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time
  3. Once the screen powers up, release all buttons
  4. In the Android System Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. After the cache is wiped, “Reboot system now” should be highlighted
  7. Press “Power” and wait for the phone to reboot

Reboot in Safe Mode and Uninstalling an App:

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone finishes rebooting, a “Safe Mode” label should be shown in the lower area of the screen
  5. To remove an app, first go to “Settings”
  6. Next, scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  7. Tap “Application manager”
  8. Go to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  9. Tap “Uninstall” twice to uninstall the app
  10. After the application has been removed, press and hold “Power” and restart your phone in normal mode
