Restore Contacts from a Google / Samsung Account:
- Sign in with the Google or Samsung account used for the initial backup
- Access the Settings menu
- Under User and Backup, tap Accounts
- Select either Google or Samsung, depending on the type of account used for the backup
- Tap your user name or email address at the top of the screen
- Ensure Contacts is selected, and then tap Menu > Sync now
Restore Contacts from an SD Card:
- Ensure the SD Card containing the contact backup is installed on the phone
- Open the Apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Contacts > Import / Export contacts
- Tap Import
- Tap SD card
- Select to restore a single vCard file or multiple vCards
- Select to restore the contacts to your Device storage or Google account
Restore Media Files
From an SD Card:
- Make sure the SD card is installed
- Open My Files
- Under Local storage, tap SD card
- Tap More > Edit
- Mark the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Tap More > Move
- Tap Device storage
- Tap Create folder or navigate to the desired target folder
- Tap Move here
From a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Galax J1 Nxt and computer
- On the smartphone, swipe the Status bar down
- Make sure Media device (MTP) is enabled
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Use the Explorer to locate the media file backups on the computer
- Copy the files and transfer them on the smartphone, preferably in the Media directory
- Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy J1 Nxt to your Mac via USB
- If necessary, swipe the notification area down and enable Media device (MTP)
- Open Kies on the Mac and click the Back up / restore tab
- Access the Restore tab
- Check the boxes associated with Music, Photo, and other types of media files you want to restore (alternatively, tap Select all files)
- Click Restore and follow the on-screen prompts
- Once the process is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the devices virtual drive from the desktop into the Trash can
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
