Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesnt work as intended, you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! By clearing the apps data you will lose all personal data stored within the application, such as profiles, saved games, high scores, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal data, clear only the apps cache and avoid clearing the apps data.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Under Applications, tap Application manager
- Access the All or Downloaded tabs
- Select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt fix the app behavior, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably, you might be able to solve these problems by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset, without losing any of the personal data stored on the phones internal memory. To wipe the cache partition:
- First, turn off the phone
- Next, press and hold Power, Home, and Volume Up at the same time
- At the Samsung logo, release Power
- At the Android logo, release the other buttons too
- You should now have access to the recovery menu. Use Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Once the cache partition is wiped, highlight Reboot system now
- Press Power to confirm and restart your device
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the Samsung Galaxy J1 Nxt.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, all third party apps are turned off by default.
- To enter safe mode, first turn off the phone
- Then, press and hold Power
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes restarting, release the buttons. A Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left area of the screen
- Access the Settings menu and scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Application manager
- Go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall twice to confirm
- Once the app has been removed, you can exit safe mode by holding Power and selecting Restart in the pop-up menu
