Clear App Data / Cache:

NOTE: In case one of your applications doesn’t work as intended, it freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache / data/

WARNING! Clearing an app’s data will delete all your personal data stored within the app, such as profiles, login and credit card information, settings, high scores, saves etc. To avoid losing personal data, don’t clear the app data and clear only the app cache.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Under “Device”, ta “Applications”
  4. Tap “Application manager” and swipe to “All” or “Downloaded”
  5. Select the desired application
  6. Tap “Clear cache”
  7. If necessary, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (read WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and you’re considering fixing these problems by factory resetting the device, you can instead try to solve these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data on the device’s internal memory.

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Press and hold “Home”, “Volume Up” and “Power” at the same time
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power”
  4. At the “Android” logo, release the other two buttons too
  5. In the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
  6. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  7. After the cache is wiped, “Reboot system now” will be highlighted
  8. Press “Power”

NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issue, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device.

Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party applications will be disabled.

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold “Power” simultaneously
  3. When the “Samsung” logo appears, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. After the phone finishes restarting, release “Volume down”
  5. Once the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower-left area of the home screen
  6. Next, open the apps drawer and launch “Settings”
  7. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  8. Tap “Application manager” and go to “Downloaded”
  9. Tap the desired app
  10. Press “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  11. To exit safe mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart” to reboot your phone as you normally would
