Clear App Data / Cache:
NOTE: In case one of your applications doesnt work as intended, it freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / data/
WARNING! Clearing an apps data will delete all your personal data stored within the app, such as profiles, login and credit card information, settings, high scores, saves etc. To avoid losing personal data, dont clear the app data and clear only the app cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Tap Settings
- Under Device, ta Applications
- Tap Application manager and swipe to All or Downloaded
- Select the desired application
- Tap Clear cache
- If necessary, tap Clear data > OK (read WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. and youre considering fixing these problems by factory resetting the device, you can instead try to solve these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset, without losing any personal data on the devices internal memory.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Home, Volume Up and Power at the same time
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power
- At the Android logo, release the other two buttons too
- In the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the cache is wiped, Reboot system now will be highlighted
- Press Power
NOTE: In case clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issue, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party application that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party applications will be disabled.
- Turn off the device
- Press and hold Power simultaneously
- When the Samsung logo appears, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes restarting, release Volume down
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower-left area of the home screen
- Next, open the apps drawer and launch Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager and go to Downloaded
- Tap the desired app
- Press Uninstall two times to confirm
- To exit safe mode, press and hold Power and tap Restart to reboot your phone as you normally would
