Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Under “System”, tap “Battery”
  4. Enable “Battery saving mode”
  5. Optionally, select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Display” and, if necessary, turn off “automatic brightness”
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
  5. Return to “Display” and tap “Screen timeout”
  6. Choose a lower value like “15 seconds”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth when these features are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run. To do this:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and select the connectivity option you want to disable
  3. Tap “Tethering & Mobile hotspot”
  4. Set the switch to “OFF”

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: In case your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to a 2G network.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Tap “More connection settings” under “Connections”
  3. Tap “Mobile Networks” > “Network mode”
  4. Turn on “GSM only”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes which can affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Applications”
  4. Tap “Application manager”
  5. Access the “Downloaded” tab and select the desired application
  6. Tap “Force stop” / “Disable” to turn the app off
  7. Or tap “Uninstall” to remove the app form the phone storage

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By changing the sync settings of your apps / accounts to sync less data or less often, you might improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync now”

Disable Background Data:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Connections” and tap “Data usage”
  3. Tap “More”
  4. Tap “Restrict background data” > “OK” to confirm

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: New software updates can include battery life improvements, and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To verify if new software updates are available for download:

  1. First open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “System” and tap “About device”
  3. Check if a new software version is available and, if applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply it
