    Back Up App Data:

    1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
    2. Access “Settings”
    3. Scroll to “Personal”
    4. Tap “Backup & reset”
    5. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, passwords etc. to your Google account
    6. Turn “Automatic restore” ON to allow app data etc. to be restored automatically when signing in with your Google account

    Back Up Contacts on a Google or Samsung Account:

    1. Open “Contacts”
    2. Tap “More” > “Settings”
    3. In case there are contacts on your phone that haven’t been synced with an account, you can tap “move device contacts to”
    4. Tap “Settings” and access “Accounts”
    5. Select an account to sync contacts with
    6. Tap “More” > “Sync Now”

    NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your Google or Samsung backup account on the phone.

    Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the computer
    2. Visit Samsung Smart Switch?
    3. Click “Samsung Smart Switch for PC” and follow the on-screen steps to install the app on the computer
    4. Connect the Samsung device to your PC via USB
    5. Enable “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media device (MTP)” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open the File Explorer on the computer and locate the desired media files on the phone
    7. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
    8. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Windows PC:

    1. Follow the first 5 steps above
    2. Launch the File Explorer on the computer
    3. Locate the media file backups on the PC storage
    4. Copy and paste the backup files back on the phone storage, preferably in the “Media” directory or the folder(s) they originate from
    5. Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

    Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

    NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.

    1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
    2. Visit Kies Support
    3. Click “Kies 3 for Mac” and install Kies on the Mac
    4. Connect the Samsung phone to your Mac via USB
    5. Turn “File Transfer (MTP)” / “Media Device (MTP)” when prompted or from the “Notification” area
    6. Open Kies on the Mac and go to the “Back up / restore” tab
    7. Access the “Backup” tab
    8. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other types of media files you want to back up
    9. Click “Backup” to begin the process
    10. After the process is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the “Trash can”
    11. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

    Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:

    1. Follow the first 6 steps above
    2. Access the “Restore” tab
    3. Tick the boxes associated with “Music”, “Photos” and other media file types you want to restore
    4. Click “Restore”
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
    6. Once the restore is complete, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive and dropping into the “Trash can” icon
    7. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord
