Back Up Application Data:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Personal and tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data to be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your backup account
Back Up Contacts to the SD Card or Storage:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Contacts
- Tap Import / Export contacts
- Choose Export and select Storage or SD Card
- Tap OK to confirm
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Accounts
- Access Google
- Select the desired account and make sure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync now
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch My Files
- Scroll to Local storage
- Tap Device storage > More > Edit
- Locate and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy > SD Card
- Navigate to, and select the desired destination folder. Optionally, tap Create folder
- Tap Paste here to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Samsung device and your computer
- Enable Media device / File Transfer at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Open the File Finder on the computer
- Locate and copy the media files on the phone
- Paste the files in the desired backup location on the PC storage
- After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, skip the first 3 steps below.
- Open the Internet browser on the Mac
- Visit Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Establish a USB connection between the Samsung device and Mac
- On the smartphone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open Kies on the Mac
- Inside Kies, go to the Back up / Restore tab and access Backup
- Tick the boxes next to Music, Photos, and other media file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to begin the process
- Once the backup is complete, drag the phones virtual drive and drop it into the Trash can icon to eject it
- You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
