Back Up App Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up Wi-Fi passwords, settings, and account data to your Google account
- Enable Automatic restore to allow app data to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with your backup account
Back Up Contacts to the SD Card or Storage:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device
- Tap Applications > Contacts
- Go to Import / Export contacts
- Select to Export and select Storage or SD card
- Tap OK
Back Up Contacts on a Google Account:
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts and tap Google
- Select the desired Google account
- Ensure Contacts is checked
- Tap More > Sync now to confirm
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Launch My Files
- Scroll to Local storage and tap Device storage
- Tap More > Edit
- Locate and select the media files you want to back up
- Tap More > Copy > SD Card
- Navigate to, and select the desired destination folder, or tap Create folder
- Tap Paste here to confirm
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung device to your computer via USB
- Enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Finder on the computer
- Locate and copy the desired media files on the phone
- Paste the files in the desired backup location on the computer storage
- Once the transfer is complete, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
NOTE: If Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac, you can skip the first 3 steps below.
- Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
- Head down to Kies Support
- Click Kies 3 for Mac to download and install Kies on the Mac
- Connect the Samsung device to your Mac via USB
- On the smartphone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Inside Kies, access the Back up / Restore tab
- Go to Backup
- Tick the boxes associated with Photos, Music and other file types you want to back up
- Click Backup to start the process
- Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it into the trash can
- Safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
