Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to System and tap Battery
- Enable Battery saving mode
- Tap Start power saving
- Select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically
Turn OFF Unused Connectivity Features and Use 2G Networks:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when not in use (including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth) you can improve battery life in the long run. Additionally, if you run low on battery and dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Access Connections
- Disable the available connectivity options
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn Hotspot OFF
- To use 2G networks, return to Settings and go to Connections
- Then tap More connection settings > Mobile networks
- Tap Network mode > GSM Only
Lower The Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Display
- Optionally, turn Automatic brightness ON or OFF
- To decrease screen brightness, drag the slider towards the left side of the screen
- For timeout options, return to Display and tap Screen timeout, then select a lower value
Minimize Third Party Application Usage:
NOTE: Some third party applications can perform regular background processes which can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third party apps from your phone, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Go to Settings
- Scroll to Device and tap Applications
- Tap Application manager
- Access Downloaded and select the desired application
- Tap Force Stop / Disable to turn the app OFF
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall > OK
Disable Background Data:
- Launch Settings
- Under Connections, tap Data usage
- Tap More > Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced with your accounts/apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Personal
- Tap Accounts and select an account type
- Select an account and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync now
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements. Thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to System
- Tap About device and check if a new update is available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates. NOTE: the update process will require to reboot your phone
