Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: In case one of your applications doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including login and credit card information, save files, user profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Go to Settings
- Access Applications
- If necessary, tap Menu > Show system apps
- Select the desired application and go to Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the apps cache didnt solve the issues, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone doesnt work as intended or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. Unlike a factory reset, clearing the cache partition wont affect your personal data stored on the phones internal memory.
- Turn the phone Off
- Next press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power simultaneously
- At the Android/Samsung logo, release the buttons and wait for the Android System Recovery menu
- Once in the Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Highlight Yes to confirm and press Power again
- After the cache partition is cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset your phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Next, press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Once the phone finishes rebooting, release all buttons. NOTE: a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Then go to Applications and select the desired app
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall two times
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you would do normally
