Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: In case one of your applications doesn’t work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including login and credit card information, save files, user profiles, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Go to “Settings
  2. Access “Applications”
  3. If necessary, tap “Menu” > “Show system apps”
  4. Select the desired application and go to “Storage”
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the app’s cache didn’t solve the issues, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check WARNING above)

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone doesn’t work as intended or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering factory resetting the device, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. Unlike a factory reset, clearing the cache partition won’t affect your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Next press and hold “Volume Up”, “Home” and “Power” simultaneously
  3. At the “Android”/”Samsung” logo, release the buttons and wait for the Android System Recovery menu
  4. Once in the Recovery menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the highlighted option
  6. Highlight “Yes” to confirm and press “Power” again
  7. After the cache partition is cleared, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset your phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

  1. If necessary, turn the phone Off
  2. Next, press and hold “Power”
  3. At the “Samsung” logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Once the phone finishes rebooting, release all buttons. NOTE: a “Safe Mode” label should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Then go to “Applications” and select the desired app
  7. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall” two times
  8. Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you would do normally
