Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal app data stored within the app will be deleted, including credit card and login information, profiles, save files, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Apps”
  3. Select the desired app and go to “Storage”
  4. Tap “Clear cache” to clear the app’s cache
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” (check WARNING above)

Wipe the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the device’s cache partition. This can led to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device.

  1. Fist power the phone off
  2. Then press and hold “Volume Up” and “Home” at the same time
  3. Then press and hold “Power” as well
  4. At the droid logo, release all buttons and wait for the Recovery menu
  5. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Wipe data/factory reset”
  6. Press “power” to select the highlighted option
  7. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Wipe cache partition” and press “Power”
  8. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power” again to confirm
  9. After the process completes, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” one last time

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: In case you have installed a third-party app that causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone off
  2. Next press and hold “Power” pas the model name screen
  3. At the Android logo, release “Power” and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Release the button once the device finishes rebooting. Once done, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings” and go to “Apps”
  6. Select the desired application and tap “Uninstall” two times
  7. To exit Safe Mode, press and hold “Power” and tap “Restart” to reboot your device as you would do normally
