Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to System
- Tap Battery and enable Battery saving mode
- Tap Start power saving and select a battery percentage at which the mode enables automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Tap Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- Drag the slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Return to Display and tap Screen timeout
- Select a lower timeout value like 15 seconds
Disable Background Data:
- Open Setting
- Scroll to Connections
- Tap Data usage > More
- Tap Restrict background data
- Press OK
Disable Unused Connectivity Features and Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not in use to avoid unnecessary network scans. You can also temporarily switch to 2G networks if you run low on battery and you want to conserve energy until the next recharge.
- Launch Settings
- Access Connections
- Select to disable features like Bluetooth and GPS
- Then tap Tethering & mobile hotspot to disable hotspot
- To switch to 2G networks, go to Connections > More connection settings
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode and enable GSM only
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can minimize the amount of data synced by your accounts to improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Accounts and select an account type
- Select an account and clear the check boxes associated with the sync options you want to disable
- Tap Menu > Sync now to confirm
Minimize Third Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when not actively in use. By disabling or removing unused third-party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Scroll to Device > Applications
- Tap Application manager and go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall > OK
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements and as such its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to System
- Tap About device
- Follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update
