NOTE: For instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the phone, check this thread.

Restore Contacts from SD Storage:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Tap “Menu” > “Settings’
  3. If necessary, go to “Contacts to display” and switch to “All contacts”
  4. Tap “Import/Export contacts” > “Import from SD card”
  5. Tap “OK”

Restore Media Files from SD:

  1. Launch “My Files”
  2. Access “SD card” and tap “Menu” > “Edit”
  3. Tick the check boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
  4. Tap “Menu” > “Move” > “Internal storage”
  5. Tap “move here" or alternatively, tap “Create folder” or the folder name to restore the files to a different location
  6. Tap “Move here”

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the PC
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders of origin
  6. Once done, safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the Android phone and Mac
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” on the phone
  3. Launch Kies on the Mac
  4. Go to the “Back up / Restore” tab
  5. Access “Restore” and tick the boxes associated with “Photos” “Music” and other media file types you want to restore
  6. Click “Restore” and follow the on-screen prompts to
  7. Once done, eject the phone storage by dragging the virtual drive from the desktop and dropping it over the “Trash can”
