NOTE: You can check this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media files on the phone.
Restore Contacts from SD Storage:
- Launch Contacts
- Tap Menu > Settings
- Tap Contacts to display
- Select All contacts
- Tap Import/Export contacts > Import from SD card
- Tap OK
Restore Media Files from SD Storage:
- Open My Files
- Access SD Card and tap Menu > Edit
- Tick the boxes linked with the media files you want to restore
- Tap Menu > Move > Internal storage
- Tap Move here or tap Create folder or the folder name to restore the files to a different location
- Tap Move here
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device when prompted or from the Notification area
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media file backups on the PC
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
- Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- Enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the Notification area
- Launch Kies on the Mac
- Access Back up / Restore and go to the Restore tab
- Tick the boxes linked with Photos Music and other file types you want to restore
- Click Restore and follow the prompts to complete the process
- After the transfer is done, drag the virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
- Safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
