Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps causes issues or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these issues by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app, such as login information, user profiles, apps etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Application
- Go to Application manager
- Access All or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING abvove)
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work as intended or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try and fix these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power home and Volume Up at the same time
- At the Samsung log, release Power
- At the Android screen release the buttons
- In Android Recovery, press volume down repeatedly to highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the cache partition is cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
Note: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off if necessary
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Wait for the phone to reboot and once done, it should show a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, access Settings > Applications
- Go to Application manager and select Downloaded
- Select the app you want to remove and tap Uninstall
- Once the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
