Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache/data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal app data will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Access Apps and select the desired application
- Go to Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check WARNING above)
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and you want to factory reset it, alternatively you can try and solve these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data on the phone.
- Make sure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Volume Up and home at the same time, then press and release Power
- At the Android screen release the buttons
- Once in the Android Recovery menu, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight wipe data/factory reset
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Next, highlight Wipe cache partition using the volume rocker
- Press Power
- Highlight Yes and press Power again
- Once done, make sure Reboot system now is highlighted then press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung screen, release Power and quickly press and hold Volume down instead
- After the phone finishes rebooting, release the buttons. A Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and access Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone normally
