Back Up App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “Cloud and account”
  3. Tap “Backup & Restore”
  4. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  5. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, Wi-Fi passwords, and settings to be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or reinstall the apps

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Launch “Contacts”
  2. Go to “Cloud and account”
  3. Tap “Accounts”
  4. Select the desired account to use for syncing contacts
  5. Ensure “Contacts” is checked and tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Back Up Contacts to SD Storage:

  1. Open “Contacts”
  2. Tap “Menu”
  3. Go to “Settings” and switch to “All contacts” if necessary
  4. Tap “Import/Export” > “Export to SD”
  5. Tap “OK”

Back Up Media Files to Phone Storage:

  1. Launch “My Files”
  2. Access “Internal storage”
  3. Tap “Menu” > “Share”
  4. Select the desired contacts and tap “Share”
  5. Select the desired backup location

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the PC via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Go to the phone storage, and copy the media files you want to back up
  4. Transfer the files to the desired backup location on the PC
  5. Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Back Up Media Files on a Mac:

NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps if Samsung Kies is installed on the Mac.

  1. Launch the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/kies
  3. Click “Download for Mac” and install Kies
  4. Next, connect the Android phone to the Mac via USB
  5. On the phone, enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” when prompted or from the Notification area
  6. Open Kies on the Mac and go to the “Back up / Restore” tab
  7. Access “Backup” and tick the boxes associated with the media files you want to back up
  8. Click “Backup” to begin the process
  9. Once the backup completes, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the trash can to eject it
  10. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
