Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If an app crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all the data stored in the app will be deleted, including user profiles, save files, settings, login and payment information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY The app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps’
  3. Select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache” > “OK”
  5. If clearing the app data didn’t solve the issues, tap “Clear data” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Turn the phone off if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” “Volume UP” and the “Home”/”Bixby” buttons at the same time
  3. From the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for Android Recovery
  4. Once in Recovery, press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  5. Press “Power” to select the option
  6. Highlight “Yes” and press “Power”
  7. Then, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” one last time

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Turn the phone Off
  2. Press and hold “Power”
  3. Release “Power” at the “Samsung” logo and immediately press and hold “Volume down” instead
  4. Release the button once the phone reboots. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To uninstall an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Go to “Apps” and select the desired app
  7. Tap “Uninstall” two times to confirm
  8. Once the app has been removed, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
