Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps data or cache.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, login and payment information, personalized settings, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the issue, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Wipe the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing these problems by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Volume Up Power and the Home/Bixby buttons simultaneously
- Release the buttons at the Android screen and wait for access to Recovery
- Press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the option
- Highlight Yes and press Power
- Lastly highlight Reboot system now and press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold power
- At the Samsung logo release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Release the key once the phone reboots. Note that a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall two times
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
