Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all of your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including custom settings, login information, save files, user profiles etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings and go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK to confirm
- If clearing the app cache didnt help, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory resetting, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone storage.
- Turn the phone Off if needed
- Press and hold Power Volume Down and Home/Bixby keys at the same time
- At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- Then highlight Yes and press Power
- Lastly, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- If necessary, turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume down instead
- Release the button once the device reboots. Once done, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Then go to Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once done, reboot the phone normally to exit Safe Mode
