Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the apps data or cache.
WARNING! By clearing the apps data, all of your personal app data will be deleted, such as user profiles, save files, custom settings, login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- Tap OK
- If clearing the app cache didnt solve the issues, tap Clear data (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data from the device.
- Turn off the phone if necessary
- Press and hold Power Volume down and the Bixby/Home buttons simultaneously
- At the Android screen, release the buttons and wait for access to Android Recovery
- Press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlight
- Once done, Reboot system now should be highlighted
- Press Power one last time to confirm and reboot the device
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove Apps:
NOTE: If one of your third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Turn the phone Off if necessary
- Press and hold Power
- At the Samsung logo, release Power and immediately press and hold Volume Down
- Release the buttons after the phone finishes rebooting. Once done, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, open Settings
- Access Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall two times to confirm
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
