Flip phone to Samsung Galaxy Core 2

Hello! I've got a flip cellphone right now that I'm using, plus a smart phone Samsung Galaxy Core 2 (with no sim card) that I uses for WiFi internet, alarm and photo camera.

Is it possible to just switch the sim card from the flip to the smartphone? Do I keep the same phone number and all related information? Or do I need to contact my service provider?
