Thanks for all the hard work Desheffer. Wiki posting is fantastic. Keep up the good work. Ordered my cable yesterday, and will post all findings as soon as I get a chance.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

Wonderful wiki listing. I downloaded a copy in case Samsung tries to delete it.

I've been checking in since just after I bought my phone and discovered the blue tooth connection creates invalid signatures. I suspect that this needs a secret pass code in order to get it to work.

I do have the USB cable and am using the QPST 2.7 software to browse my phone, but have been blocked at retrieving files from the brew folder. I suspect that I need to use a non-standard ftp port for this folder.
I haven't tried the BitPim utility yet, but will when I have more time to research.

I also needed some access codes in order to get into certain areas, and will try some of the codes you have listed. so far, the only apparent impact of an invalid code is that the phone will disable the data & diagnostic ports for 7 or so seconds.

For what it's worth, I did find that doing a port scan is a great way to reboot this phone, and might explain why my access application folder was suddenly cleaned out (bye bye tetris). Be careful which port you poll as some appear booby trapped.

    Keep up the good work.

Seems as though this phone only supports Serial Port Connection and Dial-Up
Connection for Bluetooth. So for the transfer of files, you will need to connect to a COM port (Via Bluetooth) and then configure bitpim to look on that port for you phone. The rest has already been said for bitpim. Anyone have this phone through T-Mobile??? Just wondering if their phone supports the FTP transfer on BlueSoleil.

    eBay Link

There's a link to one of the usb data cables and a car charger for less than $12 after shipping.

Search for "USB+Car Charger For Samsung T809 T629 D807 T519 T509" for a few more listings ending in the next couple of days to hours for the same thing.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

Desheffer, received cable from ebay today, downloaded bitpim and cdma drivers. Can see phone (filesystem) and all the files you described, sent picture to folder brew/shared/mp can see file in file. Disconnect phone shut off then on, tried removing battery also, but .jpg is not there. What am I doing wrong?

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

In the Wiki it says to put the image file in the /brew/shared/lk/mp folder which is different from the path you listed.

Sorry Desheffer, figured it out. Jumped the gun and was trying to drag and drop, when you actually have to use Overwrite function. That worked.
    Thanks.

oh your doing it the old way by taking a picture with the phone and then replacing it with an uploaded picture.

You can add wallpapers also buy copying them to the /brew/shared/lk/mp folder without all the hassle of taking pictures and then having to overwrite them.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

OK got it to work, believe it was the rebooting, which i wasnt doing for some reason. It seems it is important to reboot phone by right click and reboot in the bitpim file window, you cant just unplug the phone and assume the picture transferred even if everything in bitpim made it look like it did.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

Sweet! glad to hear you got it working.

Someone added a how-to using bluetooth in the wiki, but I can't get it to work using my belkin bluetooth dongle. of course I am using M$ default drivers for it since I lost the CD ages ago, and I'm having to wait like 2 hours for the Belkin drivers to download since I live in the boonies and can only get Dial-Up... Freakin' downloading at 2.8 kb/sec, that's just wrong.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

Whoever updated the Wiki recomends one(with a link) which seemed to work for them. I would go with that one if I were you. As soon as this driver downloads I'll be able to let you know if the belkin ones are worth anything.

Re: Samsung u420: Did I just buy a very sexy peice of crap?

I could never connect using the bluetooth dongle. It kept saying that there were no services available for the SCH-U420 so I could never add a COM port for outgoing data transfers.
