how to unlock

I bought the samsung intercept from target and they didnt unlock it properly. now they are telling me the only way i can unlock it is to have the reciept. but i dont have one. so im wondering what codes or other things i can do to unlock the phone.. the phone is for virgin mobile without a sim card
