Samsung seek lights on function keys stay on

I bought a refurbished Samsung Seek. I really like the phone but the lights on the 3 function buttons stay on when they shouldn't. I was told they shouldn't be on anyway. I turn the phone on and they stay on. If I open the keypad they go off. They stay on intermittently. No real rhyme or reason. I like that they are on. Can find the phone in the dark.

I was told that it will just use up the battery. If that is all it is then I think I will keep it since I got an Instinct as a replacement but i don't like it at all.

Is this going to be a huge problem or just a quirk I have to live with. I only use the phone for texting and taking photos.
