Scanning and Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network – When Wi-Fi is enabled, your Samsung Illusion will search for available Wi-Fi connections and will display them on the screen. From the Home screen, select the Menu key and navigate to 'Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings'. Tap 'Wi-Fi' to enable it. Your phone will now scan for available networks. If it is a open network, you can select it and connect automatically. If it is secured, you will be prompted for the password.

Manually Add a Wi-Fi Network - From the Home screen, select the Menu key and navigate to 'Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings'. Tap 'Wi-Fi' to enable it. When the Wi-Fi Settings menu pops up, select 'Add Wi-Fi Network' and enter the information for SSID (wireless access point name), the type of security and a password if required.

Using Wi-Fi Direct – Wi-Fi Direct utilizes the ability for devices to directly connect to one another without a wireless access point. Many new electronic peripherals such as printers and other phones have this technology. To enable it, select the Menu key and navigate to 'Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi Settings'. Select 'Wi-Fi Direct' to enable it. Any compatible devices will now appear as any wireless network would.

Activate Mobile Hotspot – You can enable your phone to use its internet connection much like a wireless access point, allowing other users/devices to connect. To do so, select 'Applications' and navigate to the 'Mobile Hotspot' icon. Touch this icon to enable the hotspot, following the prompts on the screen. You will be prompted to 'Turn On Mobile Hotspot'. The phone will establish a solid connection to the network in order to utilize the service. This hotspot can be accessed from other devices in the same way a wireless access point would be accessed.
