Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
Be warned. Wrong code, no refund. Remote unlocks charged me and sent me an unlock code for my Nokia 6555 that did not work. I eventually got a code from AT&T that worked easily. I asked for my money back and months later they have still not responded.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
I guess you should be cautious of any unlocking "software" or "service"! And since you got the unlock code from your carrier anyway, anybody wanting to unlock their phone should contact their carrier as you eventually did. Sorry to hear you got scammed!
One way to check if a service or software download is scammy is to search the net with phrases like "Is bogusurl.com (real url name in place of bogusrul - that's just an example) a scam?" Lots of times, you will immediately find out if others have had problems. I hope you get a refund.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
Yes, is a scam. No replies anymore. They take money and give nothing. Considering the amount that it costs, I guess its a good scam. How far would you go for $7.
I'm an idiot - I should have just gone to eBay - there's a million of unlockers there that care about feedback.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
+1 on being taken.
No code, no refund.
Email promised a refund within 48 hours. Three weeks later, still waiting.
I'll see if I can get Paypal to bar this scam artist.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
For those of us who have been taken - I know you can easily begin a claim on Paypal. I'm assuming that they (remoteunlocks.com) will not respond. Maybe we get some money back but at least we can kill their PayPal account.
Start a dispute through Paypal.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
I just went to start a dispute on Paypal.
Just before I hit the final button, there was a message from RemoteUnlocks asking not to file a dispute, but rather sent them a message to receive double the refund within six hours, in accordance with their guarantee.
I did at the address stated, which is different from the one on their site.
I am not holding my breath but I'll give them a last chance to put their money where their mouth is.
Then I'll hit the dispute and claim button on Paypal and have them kicked out.

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
Hey,
Got a reply from them and got my money back from Paypal but only the original amount - not double the amount. They said that they couldn't find a code - not too impressive. So, I went to eBay and got someone else to try but they are turning out to be just as incompetent. Just my luck - you wouldn't think this would be a difficult thing.
I guess that they continue to make money from scamming people over Paypal but they don't like PayPal disputes.
Anyway - here's the response from remote unlocks. Hope this helps.
********************************************************************************
Dear Customer
Thank you for you recent phone unlocking order. Please find your updated order details below.
Unlock Status:
* We have been unable to locate a code for your phone using the imei number supplied. Although we can generally unlock this model, there are instances where certain phones cannot be unlocked. These are due to unique phone variables and cannot be predicted in our preliminary report.
We would like to offer you a full refund for this and we offer our apologies for the inconvenience. This will generally be processed within 48 hours, however please allow up to seven days for funds to reflect in your account. Refunds will be made using the method you used to pay.
We have offered some further advise below on possible options you now have.
Next Step
1) You can contact your service provider and ask them for a code, however if you have excessive time left on a contract them may not allow this. This option can be free.
2) Specialist shops are available in commercial areas. They can unlock the phone directly using a cable. Prices can vary for this service.
3) You can download certain softwares from the internet which may make it possible to unlock your phone using your USB cable, however this can be risky and may damage your phone or firmware.
Again we apologise for this and hope you have more success unlocking your phone in future.
Kind Regards
Sarah

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
Well, well. Guess what?
I went on Paypal and started the claim process as stated in my last post.
Following my contact with RemoteUnlocks, as suggested in their message on Paypal, I was refunded today.
So, for everyone else who's waiting for a refund from RemoteUnlocks, the way to go is through Paypal dispute.
Good luck!

Re: RemoteUnlocks.com
Congratulations on getting double your money back. I just want to dispute this via Paypal and hopefully get them kicked off of Paypal so that others won't get scammed.
