I've attempted to leave positive credit for several people who have posted great content. But rep power doesn't seem to work. Has this feature been disabled?

You'll have to be more specific. I just gave you positive rep power for this thread. You should see it in your user CP. Here's the faq on rep power: http://cellphoneforums.net/faq.php?faq=reputation_1

Hi John. Thanks for the point.

I have attempted to give people points when they write a great post. But nothing seems to happen after I do. They have zero points before I give them a positive reputation credit and still zero after I leave a credit. It doesn't seem to work for me. Do I a need higher post count to leave rep credit?

I don't think it's working. John is an admin (or super admin) and he might have enhanced authority levels. Your point did not register to me. None of the points I've given to anyone have registered either.

Korean_Boi suggested you need 5 points to be able to give credit but no one seems to be able to get points unless those points are awarded by an admin or mod.

Might have something to do with the bank being closed for construction.

Re: How Come "Rep Power" Doesn't Work?

Na, the only thing that happen with rep/bank is the cpf $ going up everytime someone gives you rep.

Your rep won't increase a point every time someone gives you rep. The more rep the person has that is giving you rep the more yours increases. So If I give you rep, it is 'worth' more than if a new member gives you rep. This 'power' depends on your score. You can view this 'score' in your user cp in the right hand corner of the rep table.

Re: How Come "Rep Power" Doesn't Work?

I have posted a lot of threads that I think people have found useful and have probably tried to attempt giving me rep, but rep is still in the gutter from one post I made over a year ago trying to sell a sidekick.

Re: How Come "Rep Power" Doesn't Work?

when someone gives you good rep your rep score increases. you rep score os viewable in your user CP, as John said. The rep power is related to that score but has other things that play into it...

This is an updated edit on a post I did a coupla years ago
    Summary:

basically... you get good rep for being good... you get bad rep for.. well... you get it

All members can view their current reputation points and who has "hit" their reputation in their User CP

For every 250 reputation points you get 1 rep-power (reputation altering power) point
EXCEPT that the first rep-power point comes after 25 reputation points are gathered

You also gather a rep-power point at each 500 posts, and for each 90 days you are a member of CPF

Any member who has a rep-power of greater than zero, has 25 rep points themselves, and more than 50 posts can positively affect someone else's reputation by clicking the little scale

Any STAFF who has a rep-power of greater than zero and more than 50 posts can positively OR NEGATIVELY affect someone else's reputation by clicking the little scale

how much you will change someone's reputation is based on your rep-power. If you have a rep power of 10 you may or may not see a difference in their rep-power depending on whether YOUR CLICK put their score over the next 500 mark. (Example... a member's reputation score is 542... you click with your rep-power of 10 and it goes to 552... their rep-power goes up. if their score was 12 and you add your 10 nothing happens to their rep-power)

    limits:
You can change 10 different people's reputations in a day's time
You have to spread the love between 10 different people before you can come back and nail someone a second time (admin is not subject to limits)

    Any questions?

This is really a great system. Kudos to whomever thought it up. It helps to reward long termers as well as encouraging people to post valuable content and discourages the kiddie posters.
