Hey guys,

First off, I'm from Canada, so I realize that you might not be able to help me out to the full extent since you guys use At&T, Cingular, Verizon, etc, where as we use Bell, Rogers, Fido and Telus... So as for packages and pricing, I won't even go there...

So basically here's the deal. I'm with Fido right now, and my contract expires soon, and I want to get a really nice phone for a change. Currently I have the Motorola V360, which isn't a bad phone, but I'd like to really move on up to something sweet... Fido has nothing good to offer at all though (check the website lol), I don't know why, so I've been looking at other companies to see what they have to offer...

After looking at reviews for the past few days, I've decided that I'd like to go with the HTC TyTN (or the TyTN II if that's even available for not much more), next in line was the RIM Curve, or the HTC Touch, but so far the TyTN caught my eye the most...

So this is the dilemma, I have 260 dollars in credits with Fido, so if I leave them, it has to be for a good reason, or has to pay off one way or the other cause I don't want to just lose the credit... So here's my question, I can do this two ways, which would you do if you were in my shoes?

1) Buy a Fido phone with the credits I have, re-sell it for about 80% of the value (without opening the box at all), use that money to put towards a 3 year contract with Rogers (overall, their prices and phone selection works for me) which would cost me 300 for the phone with a contract, which basically leaves me with the 100 dollar balance...

OR

2) Buy an unlocked TyTN for around 300 bucks used without a contract, and just use my Fido SIM card in the new phone and stick with the company... This works because I don't have to change my SIM card (address book) and I also don't lose any of my Fido credits if I ever need them later on... Yet I'm paying 300 bucks right off the top.

All in all, I realize that the two options are pretty much the same thing, minus a hundred bucks here or there, and depends on who I want as my service provider... I also realized that wasn't the point of my post lol...

BUT what I REALLY want to know is, will an unlocked TyTN work on the Fido network, because as far as I know, the only cellphone that Fido offers that's a PDA is the Nokia E62, and that uses Blackberry Connect as it's internet interface... And as far as I know, the TyTN uses Windows Mobile...

SO will these two interfaces conflict? Are they completely different or the same? Fido told me that they won't guarantee anything if it's not a phone that I bought through them, and can't even tell me if it would work or not... So here I am, hoping someone could shed some light...

Thanks for your time...
