Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
Listen, it worked great. I mean im good with computers and new techs but i must have been doing something wrong in the first place. I can now use my mp3s as rings. How cool is that, not having to pay Rogers more money to use a feature thats already on my phone.
Thank you Dalton for your quick response and i'll make sure to check out the new threads on this forum.

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
It means your not doing it right. Try again. I just followed my easy to follow instructions and it worked like a charm. I've helped over 20 people (friends) who have the same phone and everything worked perfect for them too.
The red line means it's still blocked by copyright. Try again.Sony Ericsson W580i

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
Hi I just got a W58i from Rogers as well. and I was trying to download the drm packager but when I try to install it, the command box will open for a second and then disapper. nothing happens after that. Is the link still you provided still valid? Would you know what might be the problem.
THanks

Hello. Thanks for these great instructions, however I am having some trouble transferring the file to my phone. . I was able to transfer to my phone however when I try to select to use as a ringtone it does not allow me to highlight that option, it says cannot be used as a ringtone? what did I do wrong? Thank you

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
Ok. Give me a bit as I'm on holidays right now. I shall do what I can to put a video together and stick it on Youtube or something.
I'll check the link to make sure it still works. If it does, you may have to redownload the software and also you'd have to go into your REMOVE APPLICATIONS and remove what's in there now before you try to reinstall it.
UPDATE: Just checked the link, everything seems to work fine. I am using WindowsXP. I'm thinking this may be a problem with Windows Vista. Anyone have success with this via Windows Vista???Sony Ericsson W580i

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
I can't seem to get this to work, I downloaded everything and I have successfullly created the .dm file I think? But when i use the sony ericcson pc software suite my phone isn't showing up properly when I click on the "My w580i" icon the phone or memory stick folders don't show up and I can't transfer any type of file to it either in file transfer mode or phone mode. any ideas??

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
OK for you guys having problems doing the DRM way or have ATT do this and it WILL work..
Download AVR converter at www.miksoft.net/products/MobAmrCon14-setup.zip
open and install but dont start yet. DL the update @ www.miksoft.net/products/amrUp15.exe update install
Now open up the AVR converter.
Select WAVE/MP3 to AMR
then in first box click browse and find the mp3 you want
in second box click browse and select name and where to save it
then click drop down menu under select MR>select 12.2
then click convert now.
now find the .amr file you made and upload it to your phone via phone mode and my phone explorer
once phone receives avr it will pop up saying use now and you will have option to use as ring tone
its not cd quality but does do the job and will be full length
This was used to make a mp3 as a rington on a se w580i on att serviceLast edited by tavenger5; 12-24-2007 at 03:33 PM.

Re: "How to" MP3 your Ringtones for the W580i
I tried the DRM and I still can't use the w580i-AT&T to use mp3 as ringtones.
Any other suggestions, its sad that AT&T blocked this feature on a walkman phone.
