Hi, first off I am new here and I wanted to just say hi and that I hope I can stick around for awhile. I searched up for a forum that talked about cell phones and boom I found this one. Reason being I wanted to share with people that I have experimented with the sony ericsson phone for a while. That being said I just got a brand new iPhone and I had a well amount of contacts. I found a way to transfer all of my contacts over to the iPhone and its quite simple.
I figured I would be a nice guy share this with all of you. And it would be a nice way to start off as being a member of this community.
Please note I'm doing this on Windows Vista but Xp should be similar
Here are the steps to easily copying your contacts from your sony ericsson to your iPhone.

Step 1. Download Sony Ericsson PC Suite (if you haven't already)
Step 2. Launch the program and under Editors click Contacts
Step 3. It should of automatically synced with your sony ericsson phone
    Step 4. Start -> Run C:\Users\windows username goes here\AppData\Local\Sony Ericsson\Sony Ericsson PC Suite\Sync\SyncML
Step 5. You should see Contacts.txt copy it and place it on your desktop for easy access
Step 6. rename the file extention to .vcf so the file should look like Contacts.vcf and the icon of the file should change.
Step 7. Double click the file and just keep clicking the button to add the contact in your contacts list with windows mail untill all have been completed.
Step 8. Open iTunes then click on "My iPhone under Devices
Step 9. Goto Info the click on sync with Windows Contacts.
Step 10. After sync check your iPhone and it will have all the contacts from your Sony Ericsson to your new iPhone.

I hope this was some help. I found this way out on my own. If someone comes up with an easier way please let me know.

*If this is post is in the wrong topic I'm sorry. Please move it to where it supposed to be. Thanks*

    A little correction for this step;

    Step 4 %AppData%\Local\Sony Ericsson\Sony Ericsson PC Suite\Sync\SyncML

    I think that's right.

I'm also interested in converting everything from iPhone to Sony Erricsson.

Is there a way to do that?

re: Contacts from Sony Ericsson to iPhone

    Hi,
For the past few days, I faced the same problem and headache of trying to transfer phone contacts from sony ericsson to iphone 4. I have about 700+ contacts.

A few blogs suggest using the PC suite or Outlook express. I tried and could not do it successfully. Someone said using SIM card transfer, but the iphone 4 Sim card is not the same size. This morning, I was looking at SIM card adapter and realised that it is nothing, but a piece of cardboard to make the iphone 4 SIM card bigger.

So why not, just aligned the small SIM card from iphone 4 into the sony ericsson properly and perform the phone contacts. This is what I did and finally transfer all my contacts.

It's always a pain for me to import contacts to my new phone. I have just bought a Samsung Galaxy S I bought from timechs and I will need to transfer all my data from my X10i. Thanks for the tip and keep it coming!

re: Contacts from Sony Ericsson to iPhone

I tried as suggested. But did not find any contacts.vcf file on my PC! I am using Windows XP SP2. The PC suite syncs my contacts to .wab format in Outlook Express. So will I still be able to transfer the contacts from .wab file to iPhone 4? Any idea?

    Thanks

That's weird, I'm not sure if it makes any difference but I use windows vista ultimate when I did this.

re: Contacts from Sony Ericsson to iPhone

hi there, thanks for this tutorial!

however, ive only managed to reach step 3...
when i try to enter step 4 into run, it wont work (somehow i dont have the 'users' folder on my C drive >_<)
even so, ive tried to find the syncML file thru program files, under sony ericsson pc suite, and bam! its there!

...but then i cant see a contacts.txt file....

i'm a XP user, but dont think its related to being a XP user or Vista user for this...

    do you have any ideas?

    Download Sony Ericsson PC Suite
Launch the program and under Editors, click Contacts
Your contacts should upload to the PC suite

    next go to Tools >synchronisation.
Hopefully it will have an option to sync with windows contacts
    Press start sync
This will transfer your contacts to windows mail.

Connect your Ipod to your computer and open itunes.
Double click your Iphone icon on left bar.
Go to " info "on top bar and open
Tick sync with box, and select windows contacts
after sync is completed your contacts should appear in your iphone

re: Contacts from Sony Ericsson to iPhone

    Hi,

Thanks for the guidance. Unfortunately I cannot go further than step 2!

When I launch “Sony Ericsson PC Companion 2.0” and try to connect my cell phone (W550i) to it, it says “PC Companion was not able to connect the phone. Please disconnect and connect again.”

I have checked the USB cable and I have tried different USB ports, but I have got the same message.
    How can I connect it?

    Thank you in advance,
    Victoria.
