Transferring all of your contacts from an iPhone to an Android smartphone such as the Sony Xperia Z1 might seem a bit difficult, but in reality, using one of the methods below can save you a lot of time and trouble. Choose whichever you prefer.

Transferring Contacts from an iPhone to the Sony Xperia Z1 Using iTunes:

  1. Launch iTunes on your computer. If necessary, visit the Apple website and download the iTunes client
  2. Connect your iPhone to your PC using the proprietary USB cable
  3. As soon as your iPhone is connected, it should appear in iTunes. Click on it to access the handset's summary page
  4. Go to the "Info" tab
  5. Mark the "Sync Contacts With" check mark and click "Google Contacts" from the drop-down list
  6. Enter your Google account's username and password if you haven't added a Google account previously. Otherwise, click "Configure" to select a previously set Google account
  7. Click "Apply" and allow iTunes to finish the sync
  8. On your Sony Xperia Z1, register the same Google account if you haven't done so already. (To register a new account, go to the "Settings" menu and tap "Accounts"
  9. Allow the Google account to sync the contacts with your Xperia Z1

Transferring Contacts from an iPhone Using iCloud:

  1. On your PC, visit www.icloud.com and log in with your iCloud account
  2. Click "Contacts" to view the list
  3. Select the contacts that you wish to transfer
  4. Click the icon depicting a cog wheel and click "Export vCard"
  5. After the VCF file is downloaded on your computer, import the VCF file to "Google Contacts". Alternatively, connect your Sony Xperia Z1 to your computer and copy the VCF file into the device's "/sdcard" directory. Afterwards, open the "Apps" icon > "Contacts" > "press the "Menu" icon" > "Import contacts" > "SD card" > select the location where you wish to store the contacts and then select the VCF / vCard file

Transferring Contacts from an iPhone Using the "My Contacts Backup" Application:

  1. Install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup". Wait for the backup to complete
  3. Tap "Email" to attach the VCF file to an email
  4. Use your own Gmail address as a recipient, and send the email containing the VCF file
  5. On your Xperia Z1, open the email containing the VCF file and download it on your phone to import the contacts

Transferring Contacts from an iPhone Using the "Bump" App:

NOTE: the Bump application requires an active Internet connection on both smartphones. The contact transfer is performed via cloud computing.

  1. On your iPhone, go to the App Store and download "Bump"
  2. On your Xperia Z1, access the "Play Store" and download > install "Bump"
  3. Open the application on both smartphones and allow permissions
  4. On the iPhone, go to the "Contacts" section and select the contacts that you wish to transfer
  5. After the "Bump now!" label appears in the top-right part of the screen, you can lightly bump your smartphones together
  6. Tap "Connect" to begin the transfer process. A copy of the contacts should now be sent to your Xperia Z1 via the cloud
