Hi everyone new guy here with some questions. I have a Verizon contract phone, two phones actually through Verizon. I’m looking at going too pre-paid due to what I can get and do and the price of having no contract.

I have a plan right now of 950 minutes with no text; no web browsing and calls are free to ten friends. I pay $82.53 a month.

I’m looking at Straight Talk and for the price it would be about the same as what I am paying now if I went one phone unlimited (mine) and the other phone to a thousand minutes. The other phone is only used by my mom and dad.

I’m looking at two phones and I wanted to know the pro’s and con’s of both phones. I know I could save up and get a smart phone but really all I want to be able to do is call friends and family, text and maybe use the net on the phone every now and then.

I would like to know if either of these phones will allow me to get on Facebook.com as I do use that for keeping up with friends and for a few books that I’m working on publishing.

So the two phones that I’m looking are-

Samsung R355C – Tell me anything and everything you know about this phone. I like the battery life is a little long then the next phone I’m about to post here.

Samsung R451C – Tell me anything and everything you know about this phone. I really like the slider phones and the setup of the keyboard on this one. The keyboard looks more users friendly.

I thought I had read some where that slider phones start to have problems after awhile, is this true?

Also to keep the cell number I have now I have to keep my contract phone active while I set up the Straight Talk phone right?

So if you have any info on these two phones and really about Straight Talk, I know ST works great in my area on the Verizon towers and I can get what I want for what I pay now so I’m thinking why not.

Oh and for me to go to a text and talk plan with Verizon is $119 a month and I feel that is just crazy.

    Thanks everyone.

Re: Straight Talk Cell Phones Question

@Olympicarmsfan I will tell you my experience with my Samsung R355c and then you will decide. First answer is that yes, before you call Verizon to disconnect the current cell, you need to purchase the Straight Talk cellphone of your liking, and they at ST will transfer the number to ST from Verizon. Yes, you can log in to Facebook and to your e-mail at all times in the browser botton. I have the unlimited plan for $45 a month that is all you pay after you have purchase the Straight Talk cellphone of course after all taxes. I am pleased with Straight Talk service and haven't had any dropped calls. I hope my answer is helpful in someway.

Thank you that does help. I had watched a few videos on youtube.com and I just didnt get any real answers. I dont care if it does or doesnt look like a Blackberry I just like the price of the phone being a little cheaper then the slider.

Thanks it does help and I will be looking into ST soon. I need to get out of this contract, I never knew it was this bad.
