I have been a customer of T-mobile for a number of years now. My current contract expires in February 2005. I spoke with the retention dept. today to see what they would offer to keep me as a customer. I am looking to add 2 new lines for my kids (total 4 phones in plan). They did tell me that there is an activation fee of $35.00 per new line (2). They said this could not be waived. Is this true or is there anything I can do to avoid paying for it?

It MUST pay it. My friend is a manager at a T-Mobile store in the mall and he told me that there's nothing they can do about it at all, except maybe reduce the phone price to make up for it.

Update- I went to a kiosk in the Mall before the Holidays, got my 2 new lines and I also got the activation fees waived (I got it in writing just in case). I had called T- Mobile and the Rep said to me Kiosk in the mall are more likely to waive them.
Well see what happens when I receive the invoice.

Yeah the kiosks are indepentent from t-mobile and in essence can waive or add on bonuses whenever they feel their sales need a boost.

The activation fees are the processing cost to activate the service, unless you purchase the handset equipment through Costco the other option is to have the sales manager, not the representative request to have it waived, if he agrees to it, have him place his name, title and dealer code on the service agreement and if able get HIS business card showing this

only managers of kiosks and stuff in the malls have the ability to have activation fees waived, as far as direct t-mobile i'm not sure, but the kiosks' phone prices are cheaper anyway

My statements and views are exactly that, my own, they do not reflect the views or statements from T-Mobile or any company i talk about.
