I am interested in going T-Mobile To-Go since they offer the cheapest rates based on my usage. There have been rumors that T-Mo T-G will be starting to allow roaming outside of their native network (RE: http://go4prepaid.blogspot.com/2006/...s-have-to.html), which would theoretically improve the coverage in my area (Upstate NY). Does anyone happen to know it there is anything behind these rumors?

Also, I was looking at the Samsung x495. Does anyone have any comments or experience with it?

    Thanks a bunch!

I haven't heard anything about roaming for TMO pre-pay. Not to say that it's not possible, but I have not heard any word on it.

Same here, but my store really don't get fed the newest news first either. My T-Mobile Rep. isn't the best at getting us updated on info like that.

Yeah, thats where I got a lot of that information in the first place. Though I called up a T-Mo rep, and she really didn't know anything about it.

I can see some reasoning behind allowing roaming, though. TMTG's coverage area is borderline laughable, and since T-Mobile had a a good year last year in terms of pre-pay sales, I suppose it would make sense for them to try and get some more customers on board. Just a thought.

I actually never heard of it either, it would be my big surprise if they plan to do this, otherwise I couldn't even got my to work after my move from Minnesota to here Montana since its native network also.

Theoretically it's supposed to start in March (according to a few people who called up T-Mo). But as much as I would love to see it, I'm not holding my breath...

T-Mobile now roaming with Cingular in SF Bay Area

I activated a T-mobile To_go account on Monday Mar-13-2006 and the T-Mobile CS rep stated Cingular roaming started two days earlier. She walked me through the method for changing networks. I live in the SF Bay Area and confirmed that the phone does show both available networks.

It seems I get the best of both worlds now with the most favorable rates via T-Mobile (.10/min, 1 year exp) and better coverage in my area via Cingular's network.

I second the great customer service at T-Mobile. Although limited to an initial contact to start a new account, the call connected quickly to a real human and the rep was VERY helpful and efficient.
