Hello. I'm new to this forum.
Looked around and found this forum to be info-packed.
Well anyway, I'm getting my Sidekick LX tomorrow and had some questions.
Do I need the data plan to send/receive texts?
Or can I just get the text plans w/o the data plan?
Because I really have no use for Internet/IM's.

Re: Sidekick Data Plan Question.
All you will need is a SideKick plan for $29.99
This does include internet, Instant messaging and text, texting uses data, so without the sidekick data plan, no unlimited texting.
Sidekick Data plan Info <---this link explains everything about the Sidekick plan.
You can if you like, add a voice plan on top of this, or pay .20 cents per min to talk on the phone.

Re: Sidekick Data Plan Question.
I think they put the $29.99 sidekick data plan on their website, specially for those who will just use data, no need a voice plan.
BUT in my recent experience, I have 2 sidekick slides, using $59.99 family plan and we have to pay extra $19.99 for each sidekick for data plan.
I think all sidekick users are required to have a data plan since the beginning of the contract.

Re: Sidekick Data Plan Question.
I had a sidekick for a couple weeks before I got my blackberry and I didn't have to keep my SK data plan once I signed my contract. I just wasn't eligable for any MIR's. Which was perfectly fine by me. I'd rather not get the MIR and save 20-30 a month on something I wouldn't use anyways.
