Re: Telus Sim Card
Telus DOES NOT use SIM Cards. They are a Canadian CDMA provider, not GSM.
The Blackberry Storm has a SIM Card and a slot for a SIM Card. It is a dual mode phone meaning when going international (like to somewhere in Europe) you could switch it into GSM mode to still get some form of service. The SIM Card is inactive while being used in Canada.
Also, to Blackberry Storm DOES NOT need a SIM card to operate within Canada. It would be using the CDMA network.

Re: Telus Sim Card
Yes, the Storm DOES have a SIM Card and does have a spot for a SIM Card...Telus DOES provide the SIM Card for the Storm; however, the Storm is one of the few Telus phones that are capable of using GSM. GSM with the Storm also DOES NOT work in Canada.

Re: Telus Sim Card
Why would you need one? It wouldn't work while inside Canada.
Most likely they would not provide you one.
Also, I did a little more research. The MIKE division of Telus does use iDEN SIM Cards. Mike is like Nextel in the USA. iDEN SIM Cards; however, ARE NOT compatible with GSM phones, like from Rogers.

Re: Telus Sim Card
Telus does have SIM Cards.. HOWEVER,,, the SIM Cards are for use OUTSIDE of CANADA only.. They are for phones capable of International Roaming. Since rest of the world does not use CDMA..
Currently there are a few phones that Include a SIM Card out of the box.. The 8830 Blackberry, 9530 Storm, and the 9630... There was also a Motorola A840...

Re: Telus Sim Card
No you can't, because there are no Roaming agreements in Canada with Rogers. (That's why the SIM Card only works outside of Canada)
Actually, TELUS recently installed a HSPA 850/1900 Network.. perhaps if you have a 3G phone, it will work with the SIM Card?Last edited by schnitzer; 08-17-2009 at 12:00 PM.

Re: Telus Sim Card
As hard as it may be to believe, Telus does have an agreement with much of the world's GSM providers.
Since Telus uses CDMA in Canada, they will not make any agreements with GSM providers in Canada. They will make agreements with other CDMA carriers.
Also, the SIM may not even work in much of the world (even when traveling). This is because not only does Canada use CDMA, much of the world does too...now.
The phone will ALWAYS prefer CDMA...no matter where you are. Then, if no CDMA is available (and Telus has an agreement in that country) then GSM will work.

Re: Telus Sim Card
The future of Telus will be HSPA / CDMA phones... You will be able to switch SIM Cards and use it with other HSPA phones ie: Blackberry Bold.

Re: Telus Sim Card
Yes, In several weeks / months time you will be able to use any phone that has HSPA 850/1900 on Telus: (ie: 3G iPhone, N95 Nokia, Blackberry Bold etc..)
If you do a manual search on your phone, you will see the HSPA network...
Because Telus/Bell has a 3G only network, my guess is that the service coverage will be spotty with a 3G phone like when Fido/Microcell Launced in 1998. (sucky service) Telus still has a lot of tuning to do to their new network.
