I have my Nokia 6600 back from the repair centre & Nokia.

I took a peek at the internals and the board. There is absolutely *ZERO*
evidence of any liquid ingress at all.

The phone works perfectly but fails to charge, if I put a freshly
charged battery in from the desktop charger it works fine.

I'm thinking my only recourse is going to be trading standards, any one
    have any other ideas?

    Did it come back repaired?

Have you thought to take it back to the Nokia repair centre and
    discuss the problem with them?

I would suggest getting the phone examined by someone with experience
of repairing phones, particularly Nokias, and asking for a report
about the state of repair of the phone. If there is no water damage
evident, then he should be able to say so. it's probably no good you
taking anyone to court without proof, or an experts opinion, on the
state of repair of the phone.

I would be tempted to put it down to experience and trying to make a
claim on your household insurance policy - and buy a new phone wthe
the payout - but possibly not a Nokia :-)

Since when do Trading Standards fix phones? Anyway, my advice would be
to buy a fresh battery (since you already told us that works).

Then you have voided any chance of getting anywhere. Only authorised
service centres are allowed to open the phone, so in theory you will now
not be able to prove that you haven't taken the phone apart and cleaned
it up yourself in order to support your case.

    That you can see.

Not having a go but that's irrelevent. My mate had a PC that sat in a
cupbaord as a fileserver. Was turned off but a pipe burst and the PC
got soaked. Completely dried it out and it appeared to work OK but the
RTC was buggered - the only thing left powered by the backup battery.
Even though the board appeared to be dry, there WAS moisture under the
    surface mounted ICs.
