Yesterday my number was supposed to be ported from Orange to Three. If I
call someone from my Three phone the other person see's the number that was
supposed to be ported but if anyone except Three customers call the number
then it still goes through to my Orange phone which hasn't gone dead as has
been the case when I have had numbers ported in the past. Phoned Three and
they say the transfer has gone through. Any idea where the problem is likely
to be?

Orange haven't processed their end of the port -- basically they've not
updated their systems to point incoming calls to your number to the
Three network.

Thanks for the info, I'll give Orange a ring then.

Re: My Number Port Has Gone Wrong
Phoned Orange and apparently all ports in and out didn't go through
correctly yesterday.

Phil, without wishing to state the bloody obvious...shouldn't your second
phone call have been to Orange (after the first to 3)???
It seems strange that you are seeking advice on Usenet before contacting
the parties concerned!

You make a valid point but the problem with calling Orange with a technical
problem is they email their technical department and then expect you to wait
3 or more days for a reply. They won't let you talk directly to the
technical dept. and I have been in a situation before where a problem took 1
month of emailing back and forth from Orange CS to there technical dept. to
resolve a problem. I just wanted to make sure the problem was with Orange
before I got into a potentially long process of getting the problem
resolved.

Give it a few hours to settle down, it will be fine.

A top-line number porting question would not go to technical support.
